Charcoal, watercolor and pastel are just some of the mediums used within past commissions, however my acrylic paintings are what I’m best known for!
I believe in changing style and exploring where creativity takes me. I have technical training and can zone in on highly realistic work, but also love to let loose and provide visually Interesting abstracts.

Nature and the outdoors fill my spirit with joy and it’s where I find much of the inspiration for my pieces.
Currently, my Italian heritage is playing an important role for the Inspiration in my new
Italian Series! Growing up with full Italian parents and grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins, I was immersed (and still am) in a culture that I love and runs deep in my heart!

Kristen Spilak is an artist and art educator from the city of Edmonton, Alberta. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a bachelors degree in Education and a major in Visual Art. Kristen has spent the last twelve years teaching Art to students grade 5 through 12. While at home she continues to create her own personal art for collectors interested in her work. Acrylic paint and charcoal are Kristen’s mediums of choice. Although she loves to dabble in all sorts of visually creative outlets. Her world is truly enveloped in the Arts and she wouldn’t have it any other way!
